2025 Rising Star Award
Congratulations to Utica Community Schools Public Relations Coordinator Jennifer Kane who was recently honored with the 2025 MSPRA Rising Star Award, a new award established in 2025.
Since joining Utica Community Schools four years ago, Jen has redefined what it means to lead with both heart and high-level strategy. She led the UCS Legacy of Excellence campaign that created a powerful connection with the district’s aging population. She led a rebranding process during development of a long-range strategic plan, and she was integral in passing a $550 million bond issue—the largest in Utica’s history.
Jen’s thoughtful approach is most visible in her commitment to community and inclusivity. She was involved in developing messaging, creating print and digital collateral to coordinate the work of community volunteers. She ensures district communications are inclusive by working to translate documents and reflect community demographics in district photos and materials. And as President of OCSPRA (Oakland County School Public Relations Association) and a member of MSPRA and NSPRA, Jen continues to set the standard of professional growth and community involvement in public school relations.
