MSPRA Announces June Idea Hour

Join us on Tuesday, June 9 from noon-1 p.m. for MSPRA's June "Idea Hour"--a panel discussion on "Back to School:  The Key Questions You Need to Ask"

MSPRA President Karen Heath will moderate this free, virtual, interactive panel featuring PR colleagues who will each address the following questions:   

  • What is your district's plan/preparation for re-entry?
  • What processes are you using to develop your re-entry plan?
  • What is your role in the process as a school communicator?
  • What communication issues do you anticipate?
  • Have you been using other districts' plans for comparisons/benchmarks? If so, which ones?

New PD Offering: MSPRA Idea Hour

Join us live on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from Noon-1 p.m. for MSPRA’s Inaugural “Idea Hour” when we’ll discover our best thinking on:  “Celebrating End-of-the-Year Traditions” in a non-traditional time.

MSPRA President Karen Heath will moderate this free, virtual, interactive meet up with multiple segments, featuring PR colleagues who will offer ideas on topics such as:   

  • Graduation/Honoring seniors
  • Marking student transitions (Kindergarten, 5th grade, 8th grade)
  • Student Awards
  • Honoring staff (annual service awards, staff appreciation)
  • Retirements 

Followed by guided discussion.  Registration is open until 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020. 

This no-fee MSPRA “Idea Hour” is made possible, in part, by our 2019-2020 investment partners: Blackboard, Intrado/School Messenger, Peachjar, Foxbright, and Finalsite. 

Conference Keynote: "Happiness Advantage"

At the 20/20 MSPRA Annual Conference, team members from Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) will share key points from“The Happiness Advantage.”  Based on research by Harvard positive psychology expert and New York Times bestselling author, Shawn Achor, “The Happiness Advantage” shows how being positive results in more resilient, adaptable, and successful people and organizations. The conference will also feature breakout and skill sessions on key topics geared for both the new School PR Professional as well as the seasoned School PR Pro.

MSPRA Announces Award Winners

Dr. Robert Shaner, superintendent of Rochester Community Schools, is this year's Superintendent Communicator of the Year.  

Keely Baribeau, communications director at Port Huron Schools, is the Gerri Allen Outstanding School Communicator of the Year.

The Rochester Community Schools "RCS Stakeholders Are Safe, Valued and Respected" initiative has received a Gold Medallion Award.
